Cecelia Ann Nodine-Szpak, 71, of Jackson and formerly of Old Bridge, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was an administrative assistant at Rutgers University in New Brunswick for over 25 years, retiring several years ago. She was a communicant of St Ambrose RC Church in Old Bridge, where she was very active for many years as a member of the Alar Rosary Society, having worked in the Rectory, she was active with Marriage Encounter, CCD and even cleaned the church routinely. Later in Jackson she volunteered at the food pantry. Cecelia was an avid scrabble player and bowler. She loved to travel and could boast that she saw all 50 states.
Born in New York City, Cecelia was raised and grew up in Philadelphia. When she married, Cecelia and Richard moved to Old Bridge, where she spent most of her life, before finally residing in Jackson with her husband George.
Cecelia was predeceased by her husband Richard of 32 years in 1994, and her husband George of 10 years in 2007. Surviving are her children, Richard of Jackson, Joseph of Forked River, Peggy Colavito & her husband Ken of Manalapan, and Kathleen Mosley & her husband Peter of Farmingdale. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Richard, Sara, Sean, Ryan, Olivia, Samantha & Madison. She also leaves her siblings, Mary McGlynn, Bridget McGlynn, and Joseph Sharkey.
Friends may call on Monday, June 17, from 6-9pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 US Hwy 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, June 18 at 10:30am from St Ambrose RC Church, 83 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge. Committal will be private.
