

Genevieve (Stefanowicz) Sobieski, 82, of Monroe died gracefully with her loving family by her side Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Care One in Wall. Born in Harvey’s Lake, PA Genevieve raised her children in Old Bridge, moving to Benton, PA for retirement and recently returning to Monroe.
Genevieve was a homemaker, her children were her life. Her love and devotion to her husband of 62 years Ernest, was immeasurable. Genevieve and Ernest always held hands; she was his bride and “best girlfriend”, he was her one and only love. Their daughters lovingly describe them as “always on their honeymoon”. Genevieve and Ernest enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their Benton, PA retirement home known as “Genny and Ernie’s paradise”.
Genevieve is survived by her devoted husband Ernest; her loving children Ernest (and Kelly) Sobieski, Jr., Joseph (and Christine) Sobieski, Cindy Sobieski, Angie (and Richard) Banning, Patricia (and John) Bacon, Amy (and Allan) Marcus; her dear brother Ben Stefanowicz and his wife Louise, Jennifer Agostin who was like a daughter to her, and her cherished grandchildren Christopher Knowles, Alison Bacon, Jay Bacon, Eric Bacon; Ernest Sobieski, III; Jake Sobieski. Jenna Sobieski, Zack Sobieski, Evan Sobieski, Joseph Sobieski, Jr.; Andrew Sobieski, Kyle Sobieski, Sara Marcus, Emily Marcus and Catey Marcus.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 26 from 4-8 pm and Thursday March 27 morning from 8:30-9:30 am at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 Hwy 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857 followed by a 10:15 am Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church One St. Thomas Plaza Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
