

James Timothy Mahoney, 53, passed away June 1, 2011 at Staten Island University Hospital South. He had a heart attack that was unexpected and went to his final resting place a week later. He was born October 4, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York where he was also raised and lived until after college. James attended Mary Queen of Heaven grammar school, Nazareth Regional High School and South Shore High School. He graduated from Brooklyn College and went on to be a computer consultant. His jobs included Exxon, AT&T, IEEE, and was currently employed at Celerant Technology Corp. James resided in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Francis Mahoney, Jr. and Martha Hagerty Mahoney. He is survived by his beloved brother, Edward Mahoney & his wife, Tina, of Jupiter, FL. Adoring uncle of Brian Mahoney, of Charlotte, NC, Collin Mahoney of Brooklyn, NY, Kathryn Mahoney of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Bridget Mahoney and Molly Mahoney of Jupiter, FL. Devoted friend of Steven & Mindy Fromm and their three children, Michael, Adam and Jessica of Manalapan, NJ.
James leaves behind family and many lifelong friends whom he cherished. He was generous with his time and love. He was known for his unending humor. His prize possession was his enormous comic book collection which was over 15,000 books. He enjoyed working with the American Red Cross and helping others.
His family will receive friends on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Rt. 9, Old Bridge, NJ between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on June 7, 2011, 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Parish, 96 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations may be made in his memory to the American Red Cross.
