John Francis Breen

John “Jackie” Francis Breen, 84, of South Amboy passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday August 23rd, 2014. Born in NYC, he moved to South Amboy in 1959. He worked as a Steamfitter for Local 638 in New York City for 33 years, retiring in 1995. Jackie was a long standing member of the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh and started the F.S.O.S. SERF Fund which helped those in need through monetary donations. He was predeceased by his brother Francis. Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years Milvi, daughters Louane and husband Mark Raymond of Old Bridge and Melane Breen-Vasquez and husband Robert Vasquez of Old Bridge, sons Daniel Breen of Old Bridge and Kelly John and wife Melissa Breen of Farmingdale, NJ, brother Robert Breen, sister Cecelia and husband Anthony Assanti, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Gathering will be offered on Tuesday August 26th, 2014 from 4-8pm at the Michael-Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 27th, 2014 at 9:30am at St. Bernadette R.C. Church, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin, NJ 08859.
