Mary B. McKeown

Mary B. McKeown nee Owens passed away on January 26, 2011 after a brief illness, at the age of 100 years. Born in Remackin, Sixmilecross, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, she has resided in Old Bridge for more than 30 years, moving from Bronx, NY.

Mrs. McKeown was a clerk for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Manhattan, for 27 years, retiring in 1975. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Legion of Mary; the St. Thomas Seniors; and the County Tyrone Society, and she had volunteered with the Interfaith Network Respite Program. Having entered eternal rest, she leaves fond memories of her strong faith, her love of family, friends, and all things Irish.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Gerald H., and her grandson, Michael Lynch. She was a Devoted Mother to Kevin and his wife, Mary; Geraldine Lynch and her husband, Frank; Eileen Hudock and her husband, Theodore. Loving Grandmother to Kevin, John, & Joseph McKeown, Eileen Bennett, Gerald Hudock, and Deborah Bligh. Dearest Great-Grandmother to Brook, Connor, Kevin, Matthew, and Caroline McKeown; Michael and Sean Bennett; Brianna and Marissa Hudock; and Kaitlyn Bligh. Also survived by her brother, Kevin Owens, and many nieces and nephews in Northern Ireland.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Rt. 9, Old Bridge, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday January 31 at 10:15am from St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow to Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
