Robert Joseph McKiernan Sr.

Robert J. McKiernan, Sr., of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 1, 2013 at home surrounded by family. He was a Metal Lather – Iron Worker with Local 46, New York, NY. for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He loved baseball having once played for the NY Giants minor leagues. He was a coach in the Sayrewoods South Little League for years, was a Communicant of St. Ambrose RC Church and was a regular at the Old Bridge Library. Robert above all else loved his family. Born in New York City, he has resided in Old Bridge for over 47 years.

He is predeceased by his wife of 33 years, the late Ellen nee Habert in 1997, and a son, the late Kevin McKiernan in 2004. Robert is also predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy Jetter, Catherine Wynne, Thomas McKiernan, Theresa Cassola, Roger McKiernan, Lawrence McKiernan, and Patrick McKiernan. Surviving are his sons, Robert McKiernan, Jr. & his wife Maureen of Old Bridge, and Jack McKiernan & his wife Brianna of Brick. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Christopher, Patrick, Daniel, Molly, & Shea. Robert is also survived by a brother John McKiernan and a sister Fran Marie McKiernan.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 5 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 US Hwy 9, Old Bridge, 08857. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday, September 6 at 10:30am from St Ambrose RC Church, Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge.
