She was born in Grimsby, England, on August 22, 1924, to parents, Henry and Ella Bedford.
Mrs. Tedford would boast that she was a G.I. Bride. It was during World War II that she met American service man, William Doyle Tedford. They were married for thirty-eight years until he passed. Her maiden name was Barbara Bedford, she just had to change the first letter of her last name when she married.
Mrs. Tedford characterized herself as “a tough old bird”. However, her family says she was always kind and very proper. Emotionally, she was very strong. She was also funny and witty, but with intentionality. She loved opera and enjoyed ballroom dancing into her eighties. She enjoyed hot tea throughout the day. She even took the time to teach the traditional English afternoon “tea time” to her granddaughters.
Mrs. Tedford was a long-time member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ontario, California. She was also a member of the TBPA (Transatlantic Brides & Parents Association). To her credit, Mrs. Tedford never said an unkind word about anyone and she had a fierce love for her family. She loved well . . . was well-loved . . . and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Tedford is preceded in death by her father, Henry Bedford; her mother, Ella (Boswell) Bedford; her loving husband of thirty-eight years, William Doyle Tedford and her brother, Bill Bedford. She is survived by her brother, Roger Bedford; her son, Graham Tedford; daughters, Lorraine Tedford, Denise Davis, and Lisa Thompson; her grandchildren Shanna Albinio, Vanessa Henry, James Davis, Loni Lawler, and Chris Thompson; and great grandchildren Olivia Marie Davis, Alex James Davis, Daniella Sabrina Davis, Lexi Marie Lawler, Hunter Joseph Lawler, Kaylee Jenkins, Gage Jenkins, and Hayden Arnold.
Internment services will be held on January 5, 2024 at 1:00pm at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 West "G" Street, Ontario, CA 91762.
