I just received word tonight from my Dad, Dr, Glenn Vance, of Dr. O’s passing. My heart is so heavy. Barry and my Dad attended dental school together at UT. I was born in ‘71, they graduated in ‘74. I didn’t remember Barry as a young child, but I certainly got to know him at their dental school reunion in Memphis. We became friends very quickly. He shared many stories of the adventures that he and my dad had in those days. He was a true gentleman. My prayers for his family. I will always hold a special place for Barry in my heart. Heaven gained a special angel.

I just received a phone call full of sadness. Barry and I graduated from dental school together. What a great friend ! I last talked to him a couple of months ago and as always talking to him over the past 47 years was like we had never left. We always had a big tale for each other. He truly was one of a kind.

Dr. O has been my dentist for 33 years.  I was so young when my dad first took me to him and Dr. O was a young handsome dentist.  He called me "Gal" just like my dad always did.   I can't remember when I started calling him Dr. O.  I loved hearing his stories about his fishing trips.   My entire family were patients of his and we all consider him and his office staff like family.    I was always asking him if he would retire because I was scared of losing Dr. O, as my dentist.    It's hard to fathom he is gone now and our hearts are breaking.   Breaking for the loss of Dr. O.  Breaking for his family and staff who loved him so dearly.    My Prayers will continue for the family and staff and our hearts will forever love and miss him.    We will never find another one like Dr. O.  A caring and amazing person.  He cannot ever be replaced.   It was too soon for Dr. O to leave us but he is resting easy now.  I  was out of town during the service and my heart was aching knowing i could not be there to honor him so I honored him from where we were.   I spoke about him and praised him to anyone who would listen.   He deserves no less.  We will see you again one day Dr. O.    You are gone too soon.  Much too soon.  

Dr Omohundro has been our dentist for about 30 years and what a wonderful dentist and man he was.  He always took great care of us even on weekends if needed.  We will miss him greatly.  I was in the office when he was planning his fishing trip that he didn't get to take.  I always marveled at his energy.  We want to thank the family for sharing him with us.  

Dr. Omohundro will be missed by myself and my kids. He was the BEST dentist a patient could have. I have referred friends and they have all felt the same way. I was scared to death of my childhood dentist. I moved from West Tn in 1988 to Donelson. I woke up with swollen face and opened the yellow pages right to Dr. Omohundro’s name. Called and Ms. Cindy got me in same day. I was sooo nervous upon arrival but when I left I was relaxed and  never minded going to the dentist after that. He never wanted to hurt you and never did! I will miss him dearly. Prayers for Ashley and all the family as well as all the girls at the office that are like family! ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Barry was one of my clients and I enjoyed serving his practice and visiting with him. I certainly will miss his kindness and friendship in the days ahead. My family will be praying for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Ashley, I always loved your dad. I feel like he was always smiling and that he loved his girls so much! I will be praying for comfort for your family. 

I grew up with the Omohundro family in Bluefields and loved them all! My parents and Barry’s parents were very close friends, and the children were close also. My sincere condolences to all of Barry’s family members❤️

Dr. B, has always been an upstanding caring gentleman towards me for many years.   He had always told me if I had any problems to leave a message, I had no idea he had given me his personal number. one Saturday morning I called thinking it was an answering service, he answered and we talked, in an instant he said: meet me at my office. He introduced me to Mrs. Laurel, and said this is Saul he is a special guy. He would talk and get to me and always asked about my Mom in WV.  He told he could tell I was raised right by the way I talked about her and others. no matter what he was doing he took the time to tap me on the shoulder to say hello.   Dr. B will never be replaced in my heart and he will be forever missed. It has been a pleasure knowing him.

My husband Tommy and I have been patients of Dr. Omahundro for many many years. His caring and compassion as a dentist is unlike any other. We would often discuss fishing as everyone knows he loved , Tommy has cleaned his windows on his house and office for many years as well. We consider it an honor to have known such a Godly man! RIP

Barry took care of my friend, Mr. B E Brown. Who began to bleed about 3 a.m. one freezing morning ,after some dental surgery . We called Barry. And he said he would meet us at the clinic in 30 minutes.  Barry performed surgery on Mr. Brown and stopped the bleeding.  Then  the next afternoon, Barry followed up with a house call to make sure Mr. Brown was stable. 
   That's just the kind of man Barry was. He loved Donelson fiercely,  and all who lived there. I was truly blessed to call him my 
friend, and my dentist.
  He truly was a man , among all men.

I am a pre-dental student who used to shadow Dr. Omohundro in his clinic, and was utterly shocked when one of our mutual friends informed me of his passing. Dr. Omohundro was the first person to introduce me to the field of dentistry itself, and I will forever be indebted to him for it. I will never forget the knowledge  that I gained from him, and it will always be something that I will cherish on my own journey to becoming a future doctor. He was a generous, humble teacher, and my deepest condolences go out to his family for their loss. 

Like many Dons I was blessed to have Barry as my friend and Dentist.  I had taken jewelry classes at MTSU but having graduated I no longer had access to its studio. I had carved my wedding rings and needed a way to cast our rings. I saw Barry for an exam and told him my dilemma, he graciously offered his lab to cast my rings. So I have some collaborative art and fond memory of the good doctor. RIP

Hondo and I shared two holes in One together. My first and his second one ,6 weeks apart. I had to give him his $100 back that was in my wallet! I felt cheated to not get to spend his money. I felt blessed to have known such a kind and thoughtful friend! We were also next door neighbors twice!

One of the nicest and kindest person I have ever known.  After being treated by another Dentist and having a fear of "going to the Dentist" I knew I had struck gold when I got in the chair and read on the ceiling "We Cater To Cowards."  
My Sympathies and Prayers for the family and friends of a man who made a difference in our lives.
