Betty Ray Coltharp left this earth on February 7, 2021, for a heavenly reunion with family and friends. Betty was born the seventh child of nine children of Willie Jake Ray and Corean Waddey Ray on February 5, 1932, in Nashville.
Betty was educated in Nashville at Howard High School where she was valedictorian; David Lipscomb College; and, Nashville General Hospital School of Medical Technology. She was a life-time member of the Church of Christ.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Willie Jake Ray and Corean Ray; brothers Russell Ray, Horace Ray, Herman E. Ray Sr., and James Carlton Ray; sisters Pauline Welck, Margaret Norman, and Beverly Taylor.
Betty is survived by her sister Joanne (Larry) Christy; sons Wilson Paul "Chip" (Lynn) Coltharp of Crosby, TX and Robert Lee (Jena) Coltharp of Shreveport, LA; grandson Chad Coltharp of Crosby, TX; step- granddaughter Casandra (Jonathen) Hicks; great-grandchildren Jonathen and McKenzie; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Claybon Tucker and Balinda Green.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.
