

Charles Douglas Clariday, age 93, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born April 4, 1932, in Smith County, he graduated from Smith County High School in 1951. Charles will be remembered with formal and respectful appreciation for a life marked by steady commitment, faithful conviction, and devoted service to others.
Charles worked at the Ford Glass Plant for 40 years. During his long career, he received a Ford Motor Company Community Service Citation, along with Ford recognition for innovation support and excellence. He also served as financial secretary for UAW Local 737 and was recognized for his service and dedication to the UAW CAP Council and the financial officers of the State of Tennessee. In addition, he received a certificate of appreciation from the Mayor of Nashville for work to help reduce the problem of substance abuse, and he was honored for Babe Ruth Baseball outstanding service to youth in the community. Charles was Missionary Baptist.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Gregory of Smith Co, and his father, Arthur Thomas Clariday of Smith county. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Clariday; brother, Donald Allen Clariday (Navie Carol); sister, Peggy Rose Church; children, Charles Douglas Clariday Jr. (Stephanie Jean) and Amanda Jane Colson (Jason Gannon); grandchildren, Jebadiah Stuart Clariday (Courtney Renee Clariday), Spencer Douglas Clariday, Sydney Lauryn Colson, and Hannah Elizabeth Colson; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Anne Clariday, Taron Axel Clariday, Owen James Clariday, and Lily Mae Clariday.
Visitation will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, on March 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home on March 10, 2026, at 12:00 pm with Brother Jeremy Sisk and Bro Phillip Church officiating. Interment to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens serving as Pallbearers will include Jebadiah Clariday, Spencer Clariday, ShayTom Clariday, Scottie Clariday, Paul J. Oliver, and Danny Hale. Honorary pallbearers Joe Clariday and David Clariday.
