Dennis (my hubby) & Dave shared a cubicle doing Air Force Civil Engineer assignments. Meeting Dave & Joanne was one of my 1st memories to Air Force life—over 30 years ago. Through the years we have always kept in touch as friends do & lots of laughs. We were very sad to hear about Dave’s passing.  Sending lots of hugs, love & healing prayers to Joanne & all the family. Joann and family,
I worked under Dave at his last posting at Arnold.  Everyone knew him for his calm and cheerful demeanor.  He always had a smile and kind word.  We shared stories about our children and grandchildren and it was obvious that he put his family as his priority.  He also gave great travel advice. My sister and I went to Newport last spring based on his recommendations of his and Joann’s trip.  He was so proud of his daughters and thrilled with his grandchildren that he couldn’t wait to retire and spend quality time with them.  May your happy memories and knowledge of his deep love for you all give comfort in this time of sorrow.   Lisa Douglas

Dave and I met in 11th grade English class in North Little Rock. We were both new students to the high school so that helped us bond. We became close as we attended the last two years of high school and the first year of college together at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. At UALR we took an English class together with a bull-headed professor. Forty years later we still laughed at how tough he was. During college we took a couple summer trips to Florida for the beach and to look for girls. Dave's talkative nature made him the best wingman a guy could have. On one trip to Florida Dave sat on the beach so long talking with a girl he sunburned his feet so bad he could barely walk. But then he met Joanne. I happily attended their wedding in Charleston. And then the years flew by. However, I was fortunate to keep tabs on Dave since he was in the Air Force and my father was a retired colonel in the Air Force who had retired outside Scott Air Force base. When Dave was a young officer, he would pass through Scott and my parents always loved chatting with Dave. My father was always eager to hear about the current state of the Air Force and my mother loved listening to Dave's stories. Dave could definitely surprise. I can vividly remember my shock and surprise at seeing Dave as a movie star. He was so humble he never told me he was in the movie United 93. He didn't need to brag about it. I had to find out about it by watching it on DVD at home. Over the years Dave and Joanne and I would get together for dinners when our paths crossed, usually when we were both in the Scott AF base area. I always looked forward to those visits to catch-up. We also stayed in contact with twice yearly phone calls with our high school buddy Kirk Rhee. I can still hear Dave's voice as the three of us just spoke over Christmas. I can't believe Dave's gone. Dave was a great friend. "Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!"

I can't believe he is gone.  I am going to miss his infectious smile and laugh.  If you were down, 2 minutes with him and you would have a smile on your face
 All I can say is how blessed I feel knowing him and Joann.  Any thing we can do for you Joann don't hesitate to ask.

Kathy and I send our love and prayers. We are heartbroken for the loss of such a wonderful man. Dave was always had a positive outlook; always happy and smiling. Our hearts go out to our dear friends Joanne, Jen, and Kim. May our precious Lord wrap His loving arms around you all and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding.

David was a unique man.  His humor, his spirit of congeniality, his obvious love of family, and his intelligence made him a pleasure to be around.  He inherited the best qualities of both parents and had a deep commitment to the Lord.  Certainly his change of address leaves a gaping hole, but what a privilege it was to know him.  My sympathy to Joanne, Jen, Kim and all the family.

Dear Joanne 
We were shocked to hear of Dave’s passing.  You and your family are in our prayers.  Dave loved life to the fullest on this side of eternity and lifted others up as well.  We will never forget that one Sunday that we tried to go out for breakfast and the restaurant was so busy that we came back to our house.  Blair made waffles along with some eggs and bacon.   Dave praised the meal experience like he’d just dined at a four star restaurant.    This world has lost a shining light and we grieve his loss with you.   Love in Christ Ron & Blair

Sincere condolences to the entire family.

Dave and I shared a cubical at the Air Force Personnel Center, for two years, making officer assignments. This job involved talking on the phone literally all day long. If you know Dave, you know he was made for this job because, if Dave had one superpower, it is the ability to hold a conversation. I loved every day working with Dave. I always said that if the two of us ever got booted from the Air Force that our Plan B would be to host a live radio show. So many good memories. It pains Dee and I to know Dave is gone. We can only offer our steady prayers for Joanne and family.  May you find peace in this time of sorrow.

Mr. Dave was such a kind man! When I started volunteering at Radical Heart, he welcomed me right away and always had a joke or funny story ready. One of my favorite memories of him is when he came back in the pantry after putting groceries in one of our guest’s cars on a very cold day, holding his bare hands up  and saying with a smile, “Well, I’ve lost my favorite gloves!” He had just given them to a guest who needed them more, no hesitation. In this year and a half I knew him, I learned quickly he loved to serve and he did so with joy.  We already miss him every Wednesday night and Thursday morning. 
I have no doubts he heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” ❤️

Dave was a special person, his smile and those great hugs always made me smile. I will remember many of the stories he shared while at Radical Heart.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Seems like we just saw you guys….and it seems like we were just in England going for Chinese.  Funny how time flies and stands still at the same time.  Next time we will all be together will be in Glory and for that we are so thankful!  We cherish every moment we had with Dave (even if we are still bitter he missed out on the frigid hike in Garmisch!!! 😂) Love to you Joanne and Girls,

We are heartbroken over Dave’s death. He was one of the most kind and generous persons we know. He was a good husband to my sister and a good Father and Grandfather to his girls and Grandchildren.  He was also a good son-in-law to my Mom. Our lives have been forever changed because of his kindness and warm personality.

Dave was the best friend that anyone could ever have. He loved Jesus so much, that he just couldn’t keep it inside of him, he had to share it. My best memory is of the hugs that he gave. When he hugged you, it was like you were totally surrounded in friendship and love. I will surely miss him!!

Dave was a great friend and wonderful neighbor!  He always had an infectious smile and kind words for everyone.  I remember his LOVE for Joanne, his children, and his grandchildren most of all!  He was always doing things for them, and I could tell every time the grandkids came for a visit by the giant bouncy castle in their backyard.  I will miss him!
