KRZAN, David B. Jr., Age 23, an Active Duty United States Marine Corps Corporal of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee died at his home with family at his side on Sunday May 9th 2010. David was born on July 12th 1986 at St David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. David is the oldest of four children born to David B. and Lori S. Krzan. He was an exemplarily and loving brother to his siblings, Michael, Tiffany and Patrick. A graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, David felt deeply compelled to serve his country as horrific events continued to unfolded following the (Nine/Eleven) attack on the United States. It was exceptional patriotism that drove David and his childhood friend, Jeremy Vogel to join the United States Marine Corps together. David and Jeremy willingly and honorably defended our country; each serving two combat tours. David earned two Naval Achievement Awards. A clean cut kid, David grew up in a very tight nit family of six. David was very friendly, generous, and outgoing; he never passed an opportunity to lend a helping hand. A kind and gentle spirited young man, David had a unique sense of humor. David enjoyed fishing, boating, mechanics and sports cars. He was an excellent mechanic with “a special touch.” He built computers, automobile engines, turbo chargers and boat motors. He also enjoyed building “experimental things” like…turbine engines. David, like his siblings, was reared with deep Christian beliefs; he was baptized in the Buffalo National River at Gilbert, Arkansas, and David knows his Savior, Jesus Christ. David had an amazing work ethic. He was a self starter, every single day; you could set your clock by his routine. He started working while still in high school, helping the liquidator close-out the Hermitage K-Mart during their bankruptcy. David then went on to Lowes in Hermitage and helped restyle the tool department. After that, it was on to The Corps. As a United States Marine, David was, among other things, a mechanic on CH-53 Heavy Lift Helicopters, he never lost… “the touch.” On his last deployment, David departed the east coast of the United States with his squadron on board the USS Iwo Jima. Components of the battle group made way to the coast of Israel where David’s CH-53’s lifted off and flew over Israel, Jordan, and Syria into Iraq. David was medevaced out of Iraq during that tour and received the finest treatment here at the VA Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. David is survived by his parents, Dave & Lori Krzan of Mt. Juliet, TN.; his grandparents, Dennis & JoAnne Enoch of Round Rock, TX, Bob Schmidt of Brownsville, Tx, Patricia McGovern Krzan of Richland, WA, E. B. McGovern, Jr. of Seattle, WA; great-grandfather, Joe Brown; brothers, Michael Krzan, Patrick Krzan; sister, Tiffany Krzan all of Mt. Juliet, TN. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. As a continuing tribute, it is specially noted that David is predeceased by his loving grandfather, Mr. Emil A. Krzan of Vandalia, OH and his spiritual mentor, James P. Clubb of Electra, TX. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday at Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. Don Loftis officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Thursday 4:00 – 8:00 & Fri. 10:00 – 2:00 at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138, (615) 889-0361.
