

He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on December 5, 1931 to Delbert Edward & Bessie (Flickinger) Manes, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Motz, Phyliss Lorenz, Patricia Motz, Martha Jamison and Joanne Graves; brother, Anthony Manes.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Marie (Alberts) Manes; sons, David Keith and wife Michelle (Simpson) and Gary Lee and wife Becky (Wille); grandchildren, Angela Renee Muir, Andrew Jordan Manes, Alexandria Natalina Manes, Danielle Leigh Manes and Hollyanne Marie Manes; great-grandchildren, Max David Muir and June Marie Muir; sisters, Jane Vanhoozen and Mary Lou Jackson; brother, Walter Manes.
Mr. Manes graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1950 and from Purdue University in 1955. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He worked for Westinghouse Electric for 30 years and then was self-employed for 16 years. He loved to play golf, attend Titan's football games, cheer-on his beloved Purdue Boilermakers and spend time with his grandchildren. He also spent a considerable amount of time critiquing any and all sports officials working whatever game he was watching.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Roberts. Serving as active Pallbearers will be David Manes, Gary Manes, Andrew Manes, Matt Muir, Douglas McInnis and Don Simpson. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hermitage Funeral Home.
