Debby graduated from Glencliff High School in 1970. She started her career at BellSouth as an information operator and retired from Southeast Financial Credit Union as a loan officer in 2008.
She and Bubba were married in 1972 and ten years later, their son Dustin was born. They enjoyed family time playing games and working jigsaw puzzles. Debby looked forward to every holiday when the whole family would decorate the house, inside and out! In fact, they won the Tulip Grove Homeowners Association Christmas lights contest for a record of three times! When it came to Halloween, it was all pumpkin carving and costumes. She always made custom Halloween costumes for Dustin.
She and Bubba were very active in her son’s marching band activities and proud of his academic success at McGavock High School. They were fully supported of his meteorological studies at both University of Oklahoma and Mississippi State University, and his career in aviation meteorology thereafter.
Debby was always supportive of Bubba’s work – from the time he started as a concrete form erector, to owning his own business building homes and custom concrete design. They spent many hours enjoying the same hobbies and interests, such as fishing, water skiing, and remodeling their home.
Debby was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers. Another of her favorite pastimes was creating scrapbooks for every occasion, whether it was a birthday, holiday, or vacation and travel. She enjoyed her many travels with Bubba and Dustin to the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta, Florida, and many other locations. Debby was a great host and enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays, and special times with friends and family. Over the years, she treated her dogs, Chloe, Zoey and Star, as part of the family.
Debby is survived by her husband of 50 years, Doylebert “Bubba” Maddox, son Dustin Maddox, sister Carol Garcia, brother Kendall Norton, sister-in-law Barbara Craven, brother-in-laws, Gary Maddox and Steve Maddox and niece Alane McCormick.
