Dorothy Greer Smith

She was born on December 13, 1926, in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charles N., Sr., and Rose Duncan Greer. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was a long time member of Old Hickory First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, B.C. “Clayton” Smith, Jr.; daughter, Linda Stults; sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Joyce Carr, and brothers, Charlie Greer, Jr., and J.D. Greer.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Sam) Davis of Mount Juliet; four grandchildren, Bo (Tyra) Malone of Spring Hill, Jennifer (Chris) Martin of Lebanon, Clay (Alison) Malone of Murfreesboro, and Steven (Angela) Davis of Gallatin; great grandchildren, Kelci, Karli, and Kody Malone, Grace Martin, Madeline and Jack Martin, Halle and Hunter Malone, Abby and Elli Davis, Cole Carter and Conner Hedden; and two great-great grandchildren, Piersen Gilley and Lilly Gibson.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the chapel at Hermitage Funeral at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jud Hays officiating.

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to the staff of Providence Assisted Living and The Gardens of Providence, both in Mount Juliet, for their excellent care of her for the last year and a half of her life; they are truly caring and loving places. Thanks also to Gentiva Hospice for caring for her in her last days at The Gardens.
