Born and raised in Leipers Fork, TN, Eddie was the youngest of seven children and a graduate of Hillsboro High School. After high school, he moved to Nashville and joined the Army Reserves, where he served as a line cook. After marrying and starting a family, he moved to Mount Juliet, where he became a devoted member of the Mount Juliet Church of Christ for 61 years.
Eddie enjoyed a long and successful career at DuPont in Old Hickory. After retiring, he continued working as a maintenance technician at Opryland Park.
He was a devoted father who had full custody of both his son and daughter in the mid-1970s—an uncommon accomplishment at the time. He always made time for his children, ensured they were grounded in church, and made family a priority. Family vacations to Gatlinburg and Sunday dinners with close family friends Eddie and Betty Ferrell were cherished traditions.
Eddie was a beloved grandfather and was blessed to experience five generations of family during his lifetime. He also adored his many “furry” grand-dogs and cats and happily helped care for them whenever needed.
He is survived by his daughter Beth Foxall (James); his son Kent Beard (Joyce); grandson Chris Beard (April); granddaughters Haily Beard and Madi Robinson (Easlin); great-grandchildren Breña Beard, Haleigh Soryana (Mena), HawKens, CoBurn, BriDger, and RedFord Robinson; and his great-great-granddaughter Delilah. He is also survived by his sister Jane Hughes, along with several nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Bessie Beard; his siblings Ailene,Macy, Velma, Henry, Martha; and his great-grandson Landon Beard.
Eddie was known by many for his quick wit, fun-loving spirit, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He touched countless lives through his volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, often going above and beyond by taking recipients to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, and helping with odd jobs around their homes.
His hobbies included bowling, woodworking, and fishing. He loved collecting Hallmark ornaments and wildlife figurines and was well known at his local Hallmark store. Eddie enjoyed vintage cars and attending car shows, and cherished motorcycle rides with his son and grandson. Another favorite pastime was feeding and watching deer. In his later years, driving Tate’s Lane became a daily routine he enjoyed immensely. He will be missed greatly but our hearts are full of love and memories.
We would like to express our gratitude for everyone’s support and love. Your acts of kindness of visiting him, sending him cards and gifts will always be remembered.
