Edward Carter Galbreath Jr., age 97, of Hermitage, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Ed was born on October 5, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to his parents Edward Carter Galbreath Sr. and Lucile Derseweh Galbreath who predecease him.
Mr. Ed joined the Army Air Corps before graduating high school. He served during WWII and was shot down over Germany where he became a POW.
He married the love of his life Pulliam and together they spent over 50 years together. They went on to have 4 children.
Ed was a jack of all trades. He worked in the grocery business, a car repair shop, and was the successful owner of Galbreath Bros Plumbing. He served as the chairman of the Deacons at Union Hill Baptist Church in Goodlettsville for many years. Ed worked on his farm in Nashville, TN alongside his son Eddie. He loved his family. Every Sunday for many years you could find him sitting and visiting with his family who would come out to see him. He really liked telling his stories, laughing and enjoying the moment.
Ed is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Pulliam Dunn Galbreath, his daughter Rebecca Dale Galbreath and grandson Christopher Thomas Galbreath.
He is survived by his son Edward Carter Galbreath III (Denise), daughters Keturah Susanne Lockridge and Paula Lucile Watson (Greg), by his grandchildren Michael Galbreath (Victoria), Bridget Galbreath, Matthew Lockridge, Daniel Lockridge, John Lockridge (Alex), Rebecca Roth (Greg), Cassie Harvey (Jeff), Mary Vanderpool (Jeremy), Rachel Branham (Ethan), by his great grandchildren Ryan Galbreath, Evan Galbreath, Braiden Skelton (Josh), Kayla Dorr, Landon Agee, Brody Greenwood, Atticus Phipps, Sawyer Roth, Mason Roth, Kinley Roth, Ryker Harvey, Juniper Harvey, Caiden Vanderpool, Maisie Vanderpool, and Beckham Vanderpool and by his great great grandchild Chaselynn Dorr.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends for Ed on Thursday January 19th, 2023 from 10 am until 12 pm with a Celebration of Life service at 12 noon at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138 with Dr. Poly Rouse officiating. Interment will be in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodlettsville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: Union Hill Baptist Church, 1301 Union Hill Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
