Edward Arnold Tignor, Sr. went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024 after fighting heart problems for many years. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was a Master Printer, having worked at Southern Colortype, McQuiddy Printing, and his father’s home printing shop from the age of ten.
Ed is preceded in death by his father, Bobby A. Tignor, Sr.; his mother, Mary Lou Hargrove Tignor; brother, James (Rick) Tignor; sister-in-law, Derinda Joy Tignor; brother-in-law, Gary Lee Tucker; and in-laws, Robert and Lil Tucker.
Ed is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Denise Tucker Tignor; sons Ed Tignor (Rose), Robby Tignor (Katie); daughter, Rebecca Stevens (Bobby); grandchildren Andrew Tignor, Daniel Tignor, Carter Tignor, Molly Jo Tignor, Abby McNamara (Zach), Maddie Stevens, Austin Stevens; great granddaughter, Willow McNamara; sisters Vada Troutt (Randy), Sherrie Bilyeu (Joey), Ladye Finn (Allen); brothers Bobby Tignor Jr., Mark Tignor; and sister-in-law Debbie Tignor. Ed also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their "Uncle Ed".
Ed (PawPaw Ed, Big Ed, Uncle “Egg”) was a very loving, giving, caring Christian husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was always willing to help anyone, making sure his wife and all family members had what they needed. He was a graduate of Mount Juliet High School’s Class of 1971. He grew up going to Green Street Church of Christ and attended Center Chapel Church of Christ. He loved animals and loved “big” for others. He loved Denise from the first time he saw her and was always true to their marriage.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends for Ed at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, February 18, from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and on Monday, February 19, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Following the time of visitation, there will be a Celebration of Ed’s Life in the Tulip Grove Room of the funeral home with Cousin Tom Tignor officiating. Ed Tignor Jr., Rob Tignor, Bobby Stevens, Andrew Tignor, Daniel Tignor, Carter Tignor, Rod Tucker, Thomas Fults, Marc Colson and Jessica Graves will serve as pallbearers. Allen Herald, Zach McNamara, Thaxton Boner, Norman Gilespie, Terry Mofield, Randy Carey, Dr. Christopher Conelly, and Dr. William Baucom will serve as honorary pallbearers. Following the service, Ed will be laid to rest in the Garden of Gethsemane at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
