

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, Elroy and Ethel Lannom, his siblings James, Pete, and Ruby, daughter, Rebecca Sanders, and niece Shelly Binkley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris, children, Dwayne (Sheila) Lannom, Margo "The Original Little Darling" (Tim) Potter, Boots Sanders, Kevin (Alison) Duchac, Steven (Anne) Duchac, as well as thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as his brother Curtis Lannom, his beloved nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and loved ones.
Ernest served in the Navy for six years, demonstrating a commitment to his country that he carried into his professional life. After his military service, he worked at the US Postal Service, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.
In his personal life, Ernest was married to Doris for over 45 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. He cherished his family and found joy in spending time with them, especially enjoying the companionship of his beloved wife, Doris.
Ernest cherished spending time with his family, especially the big monthly family dinners where many family and friends came together to enjoy Doris’s cooking. He enjoyed golfing and discussing sports. He was known for his love of desserts, particularly cake and pastries, and spent many happy hours on the farm cutting grass. His love for his family and his interests in life was evident to all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home, located at 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and a Committal Service from 3:00 pm to 3:15 pm at the same location.
Ernest L. Lannom will be remembered for his dedication, love, and the joy he found in life.
The family has expressed their gratitude for all of the support they’ve received during this difficult time, and requests donations to Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN in lieu of flowers.
