Eunice Fay Thompson, age 87 of Old Hickory, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022 with her family by her side. She is survived by her sons, Joe (Janet), Robert, Tommy, Johnny (Barbara), David (Marie), daughter in love Treva Thompson, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry H. Thompson, Albert and Lillian Castleberry (parents), Allan Castleberry (brother), and Brenda Thompson (beloved daughter in-law).
Eunice was born to Albert and Lillian Castleberry in Turners Station, Kentucky. She attended Mt. Vernon Township High School (Illinois) alongside her life long best friends Jo Alice Pierce and Ermagene Weir. The three loved to dance, and Eunice even showcased her talent in their high school musical Rio Rita.
She married the love of her life, Jerry H. Thompson following her junior year of high school, at the age of 16. She was determined to earn her diploma and graduated the following year. Together they spent 60 wonderful years, raising their 5 boys, serving in their church, and caring for those around them.
Eunice never met a stranger and always welcomed others into her home. She enjoyed playing basketball with her grandchildren, being outdoors in her swing, and cooking large meals for her family. In recent years, she loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and always took any opportunity to sit in the floor to play. She will be most remembered by her family for her sweet, kind nature, quiet strength, joyous spirit, and most importantly, her unwavering faith in God.
