Grace was born on September 7, 1936 in Gallatin, Tennessee to parents, Ervin and Ada Proctor. She grew up in Gainesboro, Tennessee, one of five daughters, as a child of sharecroppers in a small rural area. She married at a young age, moved to Nashville, and began her family.
Grace married her second husband, Donald, and the family grew to four children. She was a homemaker in the early years, then worked outside the home for Canteen Corporation. She also was a gifted baker and crafter of wedding cakes, and she became very popular among family, friends, and the community. Later, she took her talents to Becker’s Bakery in Donelson for several years, where she concluded her career. Grace was always known to be a woman of great Christian faith, full of humility, and having a servant’s heart.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Ada Proctor; husband, Donald Stanley; sisters Shirley Sanders, Virginia (James) Brown, and Janice (Sonny) Chapman. She is survived by children, Gary (Susan) Bradford, Debby Dillingham, Kimberley (Todd) Trapnell, Donna (David) Henderson; sister, Brenda (Gary) Butler; grandchildren Dale (Jenny) Bradford, Jamie (Christine) Bradford, Jason (Kristin) Pilote, Evan Dillingham, Raegan (Aaron) Biggs, Brady (Peyton) Trapnell, Ryan Trapnell, Joseph Stanley, Michaela (Jordan) Johnson, Samantha (JP) Saalwaechter; great grandchildren, Daniel (Kayla), Justin, David, and Juliet Bradford, Ashlynn and Lilly Bradford, Briar Biggs, Maverick Johnson; and great great grandchild, Stetson Bradford.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steven Young officiating. Following the service, Grace will be entombed in the Mausoleum in the Garden of Memories at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
