

James Larry Bishop, age 89 of Old Hickory, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was a faithful follower of Christ. . He was an Army veteran. Larry worked at E. I. DuPont Company for 38 years as a mechanical engineer. He loved his family and friends dearly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought a smile and joy to his face whenever they entered the room. He loved to travel. He was a great storyteller. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working on his large model train display. As well as, watching and attending sporting events. Larry enjoyed life to the fullest, and is now home with his Heavenly Father.
Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Joan Barnhill Bishop.
Survived by Daughter Ellen Bishop (Jeff) May and Julie (Rick) Chitwood. Grandchildren Greg (Pressley) May, Cody (Bailey) Chitwood and Paige (Cody) Brandon. Great Grandchildren Mason May, Lucy Brandon and Hannah Brandon.
Visitation Sunday Jan. 5, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm and Monday Jan.6, 2025 from 10am to 11am at Hermitage Funeral Home. Celebration of life will be held 11:00 am Monday Jan 6, 2025 with Bro Jud Hays officiating Interment to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Jeff May,Greg May, Cody Chitwood, Cody Brandon, Rick Chitwood, Frank Hickman, Ethan Messimore, Michael Harris and Wayne Flatt serving as pallbearers. Cecil Stone and Gary Dunsford serving as Honorary pallbearers.
