James "Jim" Ray Maxwell

James (Jim) Ray Maxwell age 93 of Donelson, TN passed away July 27, 2015. Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Lincoya Hills Baptist Church . He retired from DuPont after 38 years. Jim was an avid golfer and worked at the Hermitage Golf Course as a Marshall after retiring. He is in the Nashville Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Nashville Old Timers Baseball Association.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Edith Maxwell; brothers, Ralph and D.B. Maxwell; sister, Juanita Gentry.

He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Eleanor Maxwell; sons, Jim Maxwell (Linda) and Dan Maxwell (Sherri); daughter, Cindy Johnson (Jim); grandchildren, Kim Roberts, Denny Maxwell, Michael Maxwell, Aaron Maxwell, Meredith Maxwell, Jennifer Willis, Matt Johnson, Andy Johnson, Melissa Maxwell and Daniel Maxwell; 7 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 2pm Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Evans officiating. A Military burial will follow in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 4pm until 8pm and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
