

He graduated from McGavock High School in 1993. He was a pressman by trade and an awesome mechanic. James loved anything in nature including rock climbing, repelling, hiking, searching for mushrooms, camping, planting a garden from seeds and watching it grow, and bicycling. At any time you could find Jimmy working on cars or playing with his children and grandchildren.
James is survived by loving parents, Edward and Linda Mays, Wife, Tanya Mays, Sisters, Kim Mays and Lindy (Jason) McKinney. He is also survived by Children: Libby (Allen) Rose, Jesse (Christian) Mays-Vallejo, and John Mays. Grandchildren: Skarlett Temple, Serenity Temple, Oaklyn Temple, Jaxson Rose, Jayrell Rose, Grace Rose, Hazel Vallejo, Zayden Vallejo and Ava Vallejo. Nephews Hampton Mays and Jaylin McKinney. Aunts Carolyn Alexander, Linda (Ken) Knipper, Margie Lester, Uncle Howard (Joan) Eddins and many special cousins.
Jimmy's kindness to others was apparent to all he met. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and read his Bible very often. He will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life for James will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Visitation with the family will be from 12 - 2 PM with Celebration of Life service at 2 pm. Pastors Keith Cameron and Bruce Cullom will officiate.
