My uncle was a fighter to the end. I would call my mom, his sister, Carol Hunter, everyday as she was with my Aunt Sarah taking care of him. When I was younger, everyone used to think we looked alike.  When I got older and most of my life, my mom has told me, "You act just like your Uncle Jerry." He would always say , "You know I am your favorite uncle. " He was funny and reminded me of my grandfather, Rye. He had his mannerisms. My mom said he got bossy, and I thought wonder where he got that from? She is the oldest.
He was so proud of me going into the Army and then going into law enforcement. He was a good guy and I will miss stopping in to see him when I visit Nashville.  Love you Uncle. You put up a warriors fight to the last minute.

Big Pa, as Jerry is known in our family, always had a kind word and found a way to add in some laughs. He would tell you what he thought good or bad but with a little wisdom behind it. He was there to lend a hand or help out when someone was in need. He was always busy doing something -if it was tinkering with a car or working on things that needed to be fixed, he could build just about anything. He cared deeply for these grandkids (all the boys at our house) and made a point to ask about them right up to the end. Their well-being was on his mind. He just wanted his family to reach their goals, be happy and enjoy the small things in life. He was a great grandfather and a good father-in-law.  He will be missed.

Jerry was a dear friend and a great father in law to our son Jamey .He was great with his three grandchildren we share, Gavin,Harper and Natalie . He and Sara quickly became part of our family Carrie is more a daughter than daughter in law . We will miss him greatly .

Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear this news, Eddie and Jerry were like brothers between 3p and 4p every afternoon, they would talk to each other on the phone to tell stories to each other about their day. I miss the days of those two babbling.  Gone but never Forgotten.

My late brother Eddie Hudgens was long time friends with Jerry. He thought the world of Jerry! 
Jerry came last year to his funeral even though we could tell he was not feeling well then. So sorry to hear of his passing.
