Joyce Littlejohn Smith

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Larry Smith, and by her parents, Sally and Wilson Littlejohn. She is survived and cherished by her loving son, Johnny Smith; grandchildren, Brandon Smith (Maria) and Shaun Smith; and great-grandchildren, Connor, Gabriela, and Roman. Her memory will also be treasured by many surviving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Born in Columbia, Joyce later moved to Old Hickory, where she attended Dupont High School and graduated in 1957. Later in life, she lived in Mt. Juliet and ultimately settled in Hermitage.

On a rainy day in Old Hickory, Joyce was offered a ride to work by Larry Smith, beginning a lifetime of companionship. After welcoming her son Johnny in 1959, he became the center of her life. Whether at the ballfield or a scouting meeting, Joyce was always there. Her devotion to family only deepened with the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, perhaps her greatest joy.

Joyce loved to read, travel, and camp. After retiring from Fox Pools, she and Larry embraced life on the road, traveling in their RV with friends and fellow Winnie Club members. This eventually led to a more permanent winter home at Pioneer Creek in Bowling Green, Florida, where Joyce formed many lasting friendships. She was also an avid sports fan, enjoying everything from women’s basketball to Major League Baseball, a love that began in childhood attending Tennessee Sounds games with her family.

Joyce was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, where she found comfort, fellowship, and strength in her faith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Tulip Grove Chapel. Joyce will be laid to rest in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Services will be officiated by Todd Capps, Discipleship and Senior Adult Pastor at Victory Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Shaun Smith, Jerry Calvin, Robbie Turner, and two additional family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Victory Baptist Church in Joyce’s honor.
