Juanita and my mom, Dot Duke, were “DuPont Plant” friends, and were team mates on the C-Shift basketball team. I thought Juanita was a glamorous movie star, with her beautiful cheekbones, dark hair in a chignon, and a strapless white sun dress! She would bring a movie projector to the house to show cartoons to me. She and Jim took me bowling and riding around in their truck. I adored her. She had the most accepting and positive outlook. 
I hope Juanita and Mama meet up in heaven, where they can be young and carefree once again.

She was an angel on this earth, now she has her wings!!

I grew up about hour away from Uncle Jim's and Aunt Juanita's house. I loved it when we would go visit, I thought they had the coolest house ever. I can see the bedrooms right now with all of her dolls laying on the beds.  My siblings and I loved to play "king of the mountain" outside in the backyard and hide and seek down in the basement.  One of my favorite things to eat when we would visit, was Charlie Chips, potato chips out of a tin can(we didn't have that in the country), I thought that was so neat.  Aunt Juanita was always fun to be around.  I haven't see her in years, but thinking back now gives me great memories. 

My aunt Juanita  was a very special aunt to me when I was growing up. She and my uncle Jim were so kind and generous to my mother after our father died. I will never forget how thoughtful , consider and loving  Juanita was to us during those hards times when we young. She and my uncle Jim took us to Florida with them for  many years. I have such fond memories of 3 adults, 3 children and Steamboat (one of their favorite dogs)  all packed in a station  wagon driving to Daytona beach.  Juanita always had the patience to put up with us kids and make the trip fun for all of us. She was the best part of my memories growing up and  I loved her and will miss her very much..


I loved Juanita from the first time I knew her as a young girl in her G.A. bible study Class @ First Baptist O.H. I remember one time I was in the hospital & she came by & helped me memorize the scriptures I needed to learn for our GA coronation. I was 12 years old. Juanita went above & beyond for all of us girls. She was so much fun too! Such a sweet Christian lady.  She was a true witness of Christ and taught us girls to love others by her example. We remained good friends  as I married & had children. I was honored to be her hairdresser for many years.  She was one of my most cherished people ever!
She was such a giving lady.  Her husband Jim, her lifelong love, planted all our trees when we moved where we live now.  I lost track of her & didn’t know how to find her these last few years. I’m so sorry I missed seeing her. Juanita spoke very highly of her family. You all meant so much to her.

I will miss my sweet friend. We shared the love of flowers. She gave me some of her  wild phlox before she moved to Fox Run. Each spring , when they bloomed they  would put a smile on my face. She always kept a small shovel in the back of her car so that if she ever saw a  wild flower she didn’t have while traveling on the backroads ( not in anyone’s yard) she would dig it up and bring it home . I never will forget when she was in her 80’s , she was traveling by herself out of state to visit a family member. I was very concerned about her driving alone at her age and I mentioned it to her. She quickly replied back there is no need to worry, “ I wear an old baseball cap and they think I am a man “.  Till I see you again dear friend. Love, Kerma 

I have so many fond memories of Aunt Nita.  She was such a wonderful, gracious, giving, and sharing person to everyone.  Through the years there were great times, fun, and travels with her and Uncle Jim.  She was loved and will be missed.  Rest in peace Aunt Nita. 

My father introduced us to “Aunt” Nita as children when we visited Nashville from Jackson, MS for the annual Family Reunion. Nita and Jim were always fun to be around. I remember Nita’s stories of visiting my dad and his sisters with much enthusiasm, going to be big city of Eagle City, Oklahoma. Aunt Nita was the family ancestry expert. Her smile and enjoyment of life will be a memory of mine forever. Till we meet again. Love Bobby
