

Kathleen Ring a resident of Mount Juliet, TN, died as a result of a stroke on February 17, 2015. Kathleen was born on August 17,1932 in Nancy, KY, the daughter of William Patterson (Willie) Sharp and Flora Olivia Floyd.
Kathleen Sharp graduated from Nancy High School in 1951 and then went to Cincinnati, OH where she worked for Alice Chalmers. Upon the death of her uncle Oliver Floyd, she went to Pasadena, CA in 1953 to help her Aunt. In Pasadena she worked in the wind tunnel group at the California Institute of Technology.
Kathleen returned to Cincinnati for a period, then went to San Diego, CA in 1957 with her cousin and a friend. In San Diego she worked in the wind tunnel group at Convair. It was while working at Convair that she met her future husband, Leon E Ring, a graduate student at Cornell University. Kathleen Sharp and Leon Ring were married on June 14, 1958 in St John’s Catholic Church in San Diego. They returned to Cornell where Leon earned his PhD.
After raising two children, Kathleen returned to school. Kathleen attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Sonoma State University in California, and graduated from Dominican University in San Rafael, CA where she received a BA in Psychology (Cum Laude), a BA in Legal Studies (Cum Laude), and a Certificate in Law.
Kathleen served on a number of civic commissions including: Civic Center Board and Multi-County Mental Health Center Board in Tullahoma TN, a member of the Marin County Grand Jury in California, a Commissioner for the City of Wayzata, Minnesota, and a Commissioner for the City of Westlake, Ohio.
Kathleen Ring is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr Leon E Ring, two sons, Dr William L (Maida) Ring of Solana Beach, CA and Craig M (Jane) Ring of La Canada, CA, and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Gregory Allen Ring, her parents Willie and Flora Sharp, three brothers, Floyd, Boyd, and Dale Sharp, and one sister Ann Lois.
Services will be held 11 am Friday Feb. 27 at St. Stephens Catholic Community Church with Father Pat Kibby officiating. Visitation with family will be Thursday night from 4 pm to 8 pm at St Stephens Catholic Community Church.
