Khalil, whose name means beloved, was the youngest of seven born in Beirut, Lebanon.
He came to Nashville in 1970 and attended Vanderbilt University and MTSU studying chemistry, math, and English. He was a successful restaurant entrepreneur, owning both restaurants and a food wholesale business. In fact, Kelly made history by opening the first Lebanese restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. He was passionate about his culinary culture, food, relationships, working, and providing for his family.
Mr. Moore was a huge presence, energetic, and funny. He loved the Old Country and took great pride in his Lebanese heritage continuing to speak Arabic and listen to Arabic music every day of his life. He also loved to sing and play the darabouka (Arabic drum) and accordion. He enjoyed trips to the mountains in Lebanon with his brothers, nephews, and parents when he was growing up.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Irma Moore; daughters Jessica (Keith) Mason, Michelle (Chad) Onasch; grandchildren Maria Mason, Cruz Kelly Mason, Emma Mason, Anna Mason, Ben Mason, Elia Mason, Laila Mason, Henry “ Hank” Khalil Onasch, and Olivia Onasch; brothers Mike (Ferial) Ziady and Charles (Elaine) Moore; sisters Aida Kamel and Mouna Ziady Nassar.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Girgi and Marie Ziady; and brothers Sam Moore and Tony Moore.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 12pm - 2pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2pm in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
