Louise was born on August 17, 1936 to Dewey Estel Clifton and Minnie Mae Williams Clifton in Trimble, TN. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Trimble High School. In 1956 she worked at the Memphis TN Sears Warehouse. Several days a week she would cross the street to eat lunch at the counter of Bailey Drugs. It was there she met her future husband, Raymond, a pharmacy student who worked there part-time. They married on October 20, 1956. After graduation, they moved to Nashville, TN where they raised three daughters.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Luther, JR and Roy Max, and sisters Aline Poole and Donna Mae Austin. She is survived by her husband Raymond L. Henderson Jr, daughters Marilee (Garry) Dye, Dana (Stuart) Countess and Amy (Craig) Wood. Grandchildren Raymond Jackson Countess, Anna Louise Countess, Lauren Mackenzie Wood, and Ethan Wood. Sister Patricia Vowell, best friend Barbara Nance, Lauren’s fiancée Cody Reynolds and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Louise was a member of Pennington Fellowship Church where she enjoyed missions work, Bible Study and traveling with her Sunday School group. The trip they took to the Holy Land was one she especially cherished. Louise enjoyed being a full-time homemaker and was a master at sewing and quilting. Any friend or relative needing a place to stay found a warm welcome with great food and unconditional acceptance in the Henderson home. Thanksgiving meals at her home were large, tasty and legendary. She was a voracious reader and loved traveling to historic sights (Williamsburg VA was a favorite) with her bestie Barbara. She waited a long time to become a grandmother but when the time came, she excelled in the role of beloved ‘Mamu’.
Pallbearers were Craig Wood, Ethan Wood, Stuart Countess, Raymond Countess, Cody Reynolds and David Henderson. The interment was private at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Pennington Fellowship Church, 2745 Pennington Bend Rd, Nashville, TN 37214 on October 19, 2022 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heart and Soul Hospice or Pennington Fellowship Church, both in Nashville, TN.
