

Marie Irwin Farmer died peacefully on March 29, 2018, at Maybelle Carter Senior Living in Madison. She was born August 27, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee. She loved life, her family and her friends. She is survived by her son, William Harris (Patty) Farmer. She was Granny to her grandchildren Jonathan Paul (Anne-Marie Daniel) Farmer, Neale Edward (Nadia Akrawi) Farmer, and Jessica Kate Farmer, and GiGi to her great-grandchildren, Henry Daniel Farmer and George Harris Farmer. She was preceded in death by husbands Eddie Boyd Sadler (1951) and Henry Bateman Farmer (2003). She is survived by her sister Thelma Irwin Cole and brother George Blake Irwin.
Marie was an accomplished bridge player. She played with the 50 Forward Bridge Club every Tuesday up until two weeks before her death. She was also an avid stamp collector for over 50 years. She participated in the youth stamp initiative and spent countless hours preparing introductory packets for Nashville students and budding collectors.
In her early years she was den mother for several Cub Scout troops at St. Joseph School and the Tennessee School for the Blind. She was beloved by the scouts as a fun and adventurous leader.
Marie knew how to have fun and enjoyed every minute of her life. On Thursday she said she was going to heaven and she did. She always did it her way.
Visitation is 10:00 Monday followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3100 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville. Father Dexter Sutton Brewer will officiate with David Lybarger serving as Deacon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1225 Gallatin Rd., Madison, TN 37115.
