June Bryson, or as her friends and family fondly called her, “June Bug”, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee early in her life. She uprooted to Nashville to pursue higher education at David Lipscomb College. She was given a “PHT- Put Hubby Through” certificate from Lipscomb her sophomore year when she left the university to marry her sweetheart, Bill.
They were engaged April 1,1961,and married September 2, 1961.
She went on to fulfill a 30-year career at Bellsouth Phone Company. She moved her way up the ranks from working as a mail clerk to managing the maintenance supply team, all the while caring meticulously for her only child, Melinda. When she was provided the opportunity to retire early and take up the title of “Mamaw” at age 50, she didn’t hesitate. She loved gardening, volunteering at church, and traveling; but above all, spending time with her family. Mrs. Bryson and her family worshiped at Lebanon Road Church of Christ for thirty-four years before moving to Lebanon in 1999, when Maple Hill Church of Christ became their church home.
The family will be receiving friends at Maple Hill Church of Christ in Lebanon on Monday, January 1, from 4pm to 8pm, and on Tuesday, January 2, from 11am - 1pm at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN.
