Michael Edward Reedy, Sr, age 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25th, 2020 at 8:20 p.m. from liver cancer. He was born in Suffolk, Virginia, on August 14, 1951 to Ben and Frances Reedy. Michael was a dedicated father first and foremost, who loved music and theater, and was an avid church goer. He believed in helping others in need and was many people’s “angel” in their times of duress. He was a longtime music teacher who loved to teach others how to love music and learn how to play instruments. His favorite activities were to sing and write music, and to watch movies in the theater.
He is survived by his sister, Ray Carter, and children, Michael Reedy, Jr., Diana Eastes, John Reedy, and three grandchildren; Layne and Jeremy Eastes, and Axl Reedy. He had a full life and loved to argue and make people laugh. He was very proud of his dysfunctional family and his lack of holding back his opinion. He always made friends everywhere he went with his wit and humor. He enjoyed talking about his childhood and connecting with old friends and taught everyone about how to stay in line. He was always blunt like a bull in a china shop as he used to say and told all his children they were his favorite. We are still taking bets on who is the “real” favorite. He will be sorely missed, and everyone who knew and loved him will remember his wit, charm and tenacity to fight hospital stays and cancer.
Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life service of Michael Reedy on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1003 Hickory Hill Lane, Hermitage, TN 37076.
