August 1, 1949 – July 11, 2025
Old Hickory, TN – Michael McKinley “Mike” Locke, 75, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Born in Madison, TN, Mike was a lifelong Tennessean whose warmth, competitive spirit, and love for family touched all who knew him.
A proud member of the Old Hickory Country Club, Mike was most at home on the golf course, where he enjoyed countless days playing alongside his favorite teammate, his brother Tommy. Over the years, Mike scored three hole-in-ones and proudly represented Tennessee at a tournament held at Pebble Beach. In July 2025, Mike and Tommy claimed victory in their flight at the club’s annual Fourth of July tournament. Mike’s passion for golf also took him and his beloved wife Debbie to many treasured courses, including Pinehurst and Lake Jovita.
Mike’s love for sports extended beyond golf. He played football at Dupont High School and Middle Tennessee State University, and he continued his athletic pursuits with softball in later years.
A devoted family man, Mike cherished sharing stories from his youth growing up in Yellow Creek, often reminiscing with family over cherished photographs. He was known for his exceptional holiday cooking, especially his Thanksgiving cornbread dressing, turkey cake, bunny cake, and the signature Locke Christmas breakfast pork tenderloin—recipes lovingly passed down from his mother. These meals were more than just food; they were a way for Mike to bring family and friends together. Professionally, Mike dedicated many years to sales at Lipman Brothers before retiring as a Vice President at Bank of the South, where he was respected for his leadership and integrity.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Locke; mother-in-law, Minta Jackson; brother-in-law, Dudley Story; and nephew, Chuck Locke. He is survived by his devoted wife Debbie Locke; son Christopher Locke (Brandi); grandchildren Michael and Morgan Locke; brother Tommy Locke (Rita); nephew Kirk Locke; and niece Skylar Locke.
