Mrs. Parson has been a loyal member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Donelson Tennessee, since 1961. Serving her Lord over 50 years in the nursery at the church, she rocked generations of babies in the nurseries and loved each as though they were her own child or grandchild. Mrs. Parsons took the entire church family under her wing and treated them as if they were members of her own family. She was especially close to Joshua Swank, who she kept from infancy until he started school and Timothy and Julianna Lewis, who she welcomed with open arms and calmed the fears of an anxious mama. They continued to come to get hugs from Ms. Myra each Sunday morning.
Mrs. Parsons was born in Sopchoppy, FL on July 31, 1926. Growing up in Florida she developed a love for all things growing and continued that throughout her life. God blessed her with a green thumb, which she used to bring seemingly dead plants back to life. She was proud of her yard and loved showing off anything that was blooming and loved sharing flowers with people. She especially enjoyed sharing with her neighbor, Paul Attea, who transplanted many plants from her flower beds. She enjoyed watching the transplanted flowers flourishing in Paul's yard across the street. Paul also shared flowers with her and planted them following her directions.
A special thanks goes out to Paul Attea and his son, who would pick her up at her door for Friday night's dinner with their family, in her last years living in Nashville. This one small thing was one of the highlights of her week.
A visitation for Mrs. Parsons will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
