Ora Zimmerman Knies

Ora Zimmerman Knies age 109 of Old Hickory, TN passed away peacefully in her sleep, June 11, 2010. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 11 am at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Patrick Kibby officiating with burial to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 4 pm until 7 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home followed by a Vigil Service and 2 hours prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Knies was one of 5 daughters and 6 brothers born to the late John Zimmerman and Annie Durham. She was the widow to the late Lawrence C. Knies Sr. of Old Hickory, TN.

She is survived by her sons, L.C. Knies Jr. of Old Hickory, TN, John B (Jack) Knies (Lavon) of Nashville, TN, Don J. Knies (Ruby) of Hendersonville, TN, ; brother, Roy Zimmerman (Frances) of Nashville, TN; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 19 great great- grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church since 1933 and a long time member of the Ladies of Charity and was a active member of the Madison Bowling League well into her nineties.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for contributions to be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church.
