Patty Cox York

She was born in Old Hickory, the daughter of the late William Clayton and Esther Marlin Cox. She worked for Metro schools initially as a patrol mother and for several years as a teacher’s assistant. She was a longtime member of Old Hickory Church of Christ. Mrs. York enjoyed spending six months out of the year in Florida as it became a tradition for her and her late husband, Claud.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Claud York, and three siblings, Betty (Jim) Roberts, Donnie Cox, and William “Bill” Cox Jr.

She is survived by her three children, Randall Claud “Randy” York, Barry K. (Grace) York, and Robin York (David) Wood; four grandchildren, Leslie Howell, Brittney Hornbuckle, Michael York, and Braden (Sarah) Wood; five great grandchildren, Claud Michael York, Larry Dean York, Daniel Howell, Elijah Garcia, and Alyssa Garcia; a daughter in Christ, Beth York; sisters, Judy Sam (Bill) Wallace and Judy G. Cox, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at Hermitage Funeral Home on Saturday, March 24 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and also on Sunday, March 25 from 12:00 pm until 2:30 pm.

The Celebration of Life Service will be at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, March 25 at 2:30 pm with Bro. Don Loftis officiating.

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
