Sammie Ward

WARD, Sammie Green Age 83 of Hermitage, TN. Passed away May 22, 2012. Mrs. Ward was a active life long member of the Church of Christ most recently Donelson Church of Christ. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord, her husband and children. Leaving a legacy of faith her children and grandchildren continues. She was known for her sense of humor and practical jokes. She cherished her family and friends. Always quick to serve and open her home to family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Flaura Green; 1 brother and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herb Ward of Hermitage, TN; daughter, Cathy (Dan) Hooper of Smyrna, TN; sons, Joe (Rebecca) Ward of Arlington, TX and Tom (Sheri) Ward of Hendersonville, TN; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Gilley of Clinton, TN. A Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Donelson Church of Christ. Graveside service will follow in the Peeled Chestnut Methodist Church Cemetery in Sparta, TN at 3 p.m. Visitation with the family will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the church and 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donelson Church of Christ Help Center or the Alzheimer's Association .
