James G. Devine

He was born on March 9, 1942, in New Haven; the son of the late Charles ‘Micky’ and Helen Devine.

Jim graduated from the University of Hartford with his Bachelor’s Degree. He received a Master’s Degree in Education and a Sixth Year Certificate in Administration from Southern Connecticut State University. He taught for nine years for the New Haven Public Schools and was the principal at Harbor Elementary School in New London for 29 years. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, gardening and carpentry in his free time. Jim loved to cook and made homemade wine for several years.

James is survived by his wife Paula of 35 years; his sons Michael (Stephanie) and James Devine; Paula’s children, Kristin Galletta (Hugo), Alissa Burns and David Burchfield, Jr.; his grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary and Emma Devine; Gabrielle and Philip Galletta; Alena, Michael and Zander Burns; and Brooke and Cadence Burchfield. He will be missed by his loving cat, Rocksey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
