Mr. Chandler was born on February 5, 1935 in New Jersey, the son of Alfred and Margaret Chandler.
Beloved by his wife, Patricia Chandler, his daughter Gerriann Jackson, son Jeff Chandler and grandchildren Joshua Jackson, Maxwell Jackson, Sam Chandler and Tess Chandler, he is sorely missed.
Known for his sense humor, adventurous spirit and generosity, he was uniquely kindhearted. Always reaching out to lift others, he exemplified what it means to be a good person. His mantra was “do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do”
Married just shy of 70 years, the devotion and love between them was something to behold. He appreciated life and all it had to offer, often saying his life was a banquet, while gazing at his wife.
Bob was an intrepid entrepreneur. After a career at Federal Paperboard which spanned decades and began on the factory floor, he became a founding partner of Oak Tree Packaging. Although his tireless efforts to build the first U.S. packaging plant in China did not bear fruit, a joint ventured he formed with Rutgers University did much to pave the road for future U.S. packaging inroads in that country. He also started Conch Consciousness, a very cool concept featured on the Today Show that never made a dime but produced a surfeit of smiles. All of Bob’s endeavors were taken with a cigar clamped firmly in his mouth.
He was a bright light which continues to shine for all who knew him.
To honor Mr. Chandler’s wishes, no services will be held at this time
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Chandler’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation of New York
