

Mr. Paradis was born on October 25, 1927 in Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA, the son of John and Leah (Benjamin) Paradis. He honorably served in the US Navy in WWII and Korea. He married Virginia Leonard on December 31, 1955. She predeceased him on October 14, 2005. He graduated from Rockport High School in 1945, enrolled at Northeastern University and graduated from Tufts University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He graduated from Flight Training School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1947. In the course of his career as an engineer, management programmer and systems management consultant, he worked for several international corporations including Sylvania (MA & ME), General Dynamics (Electric Boat), Bendix, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. (NY), IBM, and Wang. After establishing his own management consulting practice he worked for several large manufacturing ventures, including the State of Qatar, Movado Group Inc., Ladder Towers Inc., and Mueller Brass. Mr. Paradis was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Christ the King Men's Club, Elks Club, 4H, Lyme Senior Center, Mohegan Pequot Train Club, Polish American Club and a long-time supporter of the Lyme Volunteer Emergency Services. He was proud of his flight career as a U.S. Naval Officer and pilot, and was a model of independence, perseverance and self-sufficiency. He will always be remembered for his elegant command of the dance floor, quick wit and yankee ingenuity.
Mr. Paradis is survived by his three sons William Paradis Jr., Alan Paradis and Kristian Paradis, three daughters Lee Paradis and husband James Venditto Jr., Dawn Peret and Kim Blanchard, ten grandchildren: Taryn, Corwin, Haley, Samuel, Michael, Grant, Kelley, Travis, Vivian, and Elliott, also by his sisters-in-law Bea Paradis, and Joanne Powers, brother-in-law Rev. John F. Leonard, many nieces and nephews and his loving cat Buff. He is also predeceased by his brother John Paradis and beloved dog Chloe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00am in Christ the King Church, Old Lyme.
