

Alexandra Eva Powitz, 68, beloved wife of Dr. Robert W. Powitz, passed away on August 12th. Eva was born in Liverpool, England and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She became a proud United States citizen in 1999. She graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa and was awarded a Diploma in Education from Althouse College of Education, University of Western Ontario. She held several professional certifications and licenses as a sanitarian, safety professional and associate in risk management. She retired as a Risk Control Manager.
Eva was an active volunteer at the Estuary Council of Seniors with the Friendly Visitor and Meals-on Wheels programs. She was also a long-time volunteer at Forgotten Felines in Westbrook and actively participated with the Essex Automobile Club. Apart from her volunteer work, Eva was an avid reader and enjoyed her home and menagerie of her beloved pets.
Surviving her besides her husband Bob, are her son and daughter-in-law by marriage, George W. Powitz and Erin Waldron of Mt. Ephram, NJ. Also surviving Eva are an aunt and several cousins residing in Burlington, Ontario.
Through her love, selflessness and the donation of her organs, three lives were saved.
A celebration of her life will be held on November 5th at the Westbrook Elks Lodge. Donations in Eva’s honor may be made to Forgotten Felines, 153 Horse Hill Road, Westbrook. CT 06498. Arrangements under the direction of Swan Funeral Home, Old Saybrook, CT.
