

Arlene J. Maye 82, passed away on 12/07/21 at home after a long illness. Born in Walton, NY, she was the daughter of Ivan and Madge Mauer. Raised on the farm, she became a hard-working, fun loving person who will surely be missed.
Arlene graduated from Walton Central School as a business major, Class of 1956. She received a diploma from the U.S. Coast Guard for Assistance Towing Endorsement. Upon completion of Sea School training, Arlene and Ed received their Captain's license and were instrumental in bringing the "African Queen" and "Thayer IV" to Old Saybrook to make possible public excursions on local waters. She was a dedicated employee of Cheesebrough Ponds for 25 years. Her greatest achievement was that of a faithful, loving Naval wife and mother.
Predeceased by her daughter, Valerie Ann Maye 04/05/72. Surviving one sister Phyllis Currey of Burlington, NC; and brother Burr (wife Tera) Mauer of Walton, NY. Surviving is her son, Michael Maye of West Palm Beach Florida; daughter Debra Lombardoni of Gloversville, NY; daughter Cindy Wallace of Old Saybrook, CT; and son Mika Maye of Killingworth, CT; many grandchildren and great grandchildren surviving. Predeceased was her husband Ed Kirko on 07/24/21.
She (Peaches) will be remembered for her love of life with Ed (Alligator Ed) and their pursuit in fashion designs (Shot Fashions). She enjoyed playing the Hammond organ, dancing, fishing, walking, traveling, games, friends, and living near the ocean. Her most favorite saying was "We are having more fun than people."
Death is not dark: freedom has come. We loved her, we loved her, this precious one. Mom would say "love one another" and "live your life with no regrets".
A graveside service in honor , Arlene Maye. The service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery, 59 Sheffield St, Old Saybrook, Ct 06475 on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
A gathering after the ceremony will be held at Valley Shore Assembly of God Church, 36 Great Hammock Road, Old Saybrook, Ct 06475.
