Higganum resident Gary Butler, 65, died September 8, 2015, in Hartford. He was born in Niskayuna, NY, on June 1, 1950, to Leona Butler and the late Gerald Butler and grew up in Schenectady and later Niskayuna, NY. Gary was a graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College, the University of Buffalo, and the New England School of Law. He worked for the Record Data Co., Liberty Bank, and other private appraisal firms, and, most recently, for the Credit Bureau of Connecticut. Gary loved antiquing, cooking and supporting his children in their interests. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Mary Jane; sons Benjamin and Nathaniel and Benjamin's wife Sarah; brothers Thomas and Andrew Butler and their wives Cindy and Debbie; and his niece Gabrielle and nephew Max. Calling hours will be at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook on Sunday September 20, from 11AM to 1PM.
