My sincere condolences to you Janette and the Kavanagh family. There are not any words of sympathy or words of wisdom to adquately console you with Jack's untimely passing. You may take some comfort in knowing that there are many friends that will keep you in their thoughts and prayers.

John,  words cannot adequately convey how much we will miss you. Whether or not you knew it, you meant so much to so many people.  As our oldest son, Chuck, said to me: this world has lost a really good man!  Our lives were enriched with your friendship and fellowship.  You showed both our sons what a good man is by your example. Our youngest son Chad’s terrified reaction to his first ride in your speed boat many years ago was quite humorous, but he told us that you helped him learn the love of boats.  Chuck said you were his inspiration in learning computers.  You didn’t just take time with your family and friends, but you showed us all how to be patient and gentle.  There are not very many men out there who were as easy to approach and talk with as you were.  You always were happy to share a smile, a laugh, and your amazing knowledge and skills with cars, boats, computers, stereos, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tools and so much more! So sad to lose such a good friend. John was always so easy to be around. I'll always remember him as The Mad Raving Kavanagh. Funny, for someone seemingly so gentile in his mellow years, he always had an intensity about him. If you knew him in his teens, I'm sure you'll understand. He was a great teacher and leader, without ever trying to be. His infectious laughter was one of his greatest attributes. Memories of fast cars, cold beers, smoke filled rooms, unbridled passion for Fords, (especially the Ranchero, the Shelby, the drop-top Torino, the Torino Cobra), the Triumph....
