

He was born on July 9, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to Oscar Frederick Keydel, Jr., and Miriam Frances Reid Keydel. His brother was Frederick Reid Keydel (deceased) and sister is Cynthia Jane Huebner, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
John is survived by his wife, four children Rev. John F. Keydel, Jr., of Easton MD, Margaret Reid McGuire of Alexandria, VA, Susan Perry Keydel of San Diego, CA, and James Hubbard Keydel of Groton, MA, and four grandchildren.
John attended Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, MI; graduated from Amherst College, and received a masters degree from Harvard Business School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1956, including 1 year in Verdun France. In 1957, he joined the CPA firm of Touche Niven (now Deloitte), in Detroit. In 1964, John became Partner in Charge of the St. Louis office. In 1972, he transferred to New York, NY to became the Director of National Planning for Touche Ross; and in 1974, became the Director of International Development. He served as the Partner in Charge of the Touche office in Boston, MA from 1981-1983, before returning as Director of International Development in NY. He retired in 1989 as senior partner, and he and Jane moved to Old Saybrook, CT.
A memorial service will be held on February 10, 2018 at 3:30 pm at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 82 Shore Rd., Old Lyme. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Middlesex Hospice, or St Ann's Episcopal Church, Old Lyme.
