He was born on May 11, 1956, in Waterbury, the son of Raymond Flormond LaVoie and Ann Mary Cheervoniak LaVoie.
John was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force.
John is survived by his wife Noreen and two adopted children Gabriel and Monique LaVoie, brother Raymond LaVoie and sister Caroline Skorupski.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Shoreline Church, 287 Shore Rd., Old Lyme.
