He was born on August 17, 1929, in Oneonta, NY, the son of James and Florence Hamwey Peppas.
Mr. Peppas was a veteran of the Army, serving in Occupied Germany. From there he proceeded to study at Syracuse University and devoted his remaining years to Merrill Dow Chemical as a pharmaceutical representative serving the shoreline of Connecticut. He was also known as the "Lion Tamer" of the Old Saybrook Lions Club which he served for many years devoting time to many community projects and helping others.
He is survived by his wife Anje; his children Suzanne, Helen Christina, Mark, and Carol; grandchildren Julie, Ian, Jessica, Ashley, and Dan; great grand daughter Elaine; and his beloved sister Grace Shriver.
