Joseph Long

Joe was born February 15, 1946 in Leominster, MA to Joseph and Eileen O’Connell Long.

Besides his wife, Joe leaves his sisters: Joyce and her husband Andre Plourde of Weston, Florida and Mary Long of Leominster, MA and his brother Thomas and wife Valerie Long of Salem, New Hampshire; nephews James, Craig and Jeffrey Long of Leominster,MA and nieces Julie Long of Lowell, MA and Sarah Diaz of Weston Florida.

Joe attended Leominster public schools. He worked for Prudential Insurance for a period of years before opening his own commercial cleaning business. He retired to Vero Beach Florida in 2007.

Along with his wife Kathleen, Joe will be missed most by his adoring golden retriever, Hunter, who was his best buddy. His heart was filled with love of all animals including his dogs Daisy, Katie, Ryan, his family of ducks in Indiantown Harbor, his many families of cats at Independent Day School in Middlefield and his turtles and ducks in his backyard in Vero Beach. Joe was blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy a wealth of friends both in Vero Beach in the winters and, in the summers, in Old Saybrook.

Calling hours will be held on May 14th from 9:30-11am with a funeral service beginning at 11am at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT. Burial will be private.
