Kathy Demian, age 58, passed away on January 27th, 2025, from unexpected health complications. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Demian of Framingham, MA, her mother and father Maureen “Moe” Francescon (nee: Richeimer) and Sergio “Serge” Francescon of Westbrook, CT, and her sisters Lisa Francescon of Watertown, MA and Michele Francescon Karg, (Steve) North Easton, MA. She was a devoted parent to fur babies Nebby and Beelzy and aunt to her niece and nephew, Hannah Longstreth and William Longstreth of North Royalton, OH.
Family and friends remember Kathy for her joyful and infectious laugh…and also for her no-nonsense approach and general “spiciness”. One only had to wait a moment to experience both ends of the spectrum. Her dynamic personality will be missed by all.
Kathy loved travel, fine wine and food, the beach and sparkling jewelry. She was inspired by her mentor Aunt Jean in both her nursing career and gourmet cooking. Anyone fortunate enough to have a seat at the table knew that Kathy was a tremendous cook. She would spend hours planning complex, delicious dishes and always made sure she had people’s favorite choices on the menu. Kathy was in her element entertaining for friends and family and loved hosting holiday parties. While she enjoyed these celebrations, she also appreciated quiet time snuggling with her kittens after a stressful day at work.
Kathy loved to decorate for the holidays and it was truly a sight to behold the transition of decoration changeover from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Her Christmas decorations were truly magical. She collected them for many decades and was thrilled when she found unique treasures on her travels.
Her work colleagues know and remember her for the same dynamic personality but with the added perspective of Kathy’s unwavering dedication to education of SRNAs over her tenure at Mount Auburn Hospital and commitment to providing high levels of care to her patients. Kathy would undoubtably be proud of the legacy she built with the team at MAH over her 29-year tenure. It is humbling to hear the high level of esteem and respect with which she was held by students, colleagues and patients.
Kathy will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the many members of the community whose lives were touched by her. Family and Friends are welcome to join for a celebration of Kathy’s life at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475 on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 with calling hours from 10:30am until 1:30pm.
